Rachel Siefring, M.Ed.
Assessment Specialist 

Rachel has served as an Assessment Specialist for the Division of Student Affairs since 2021.  With more than ten years of teaching/mentoring experience in a wide range of settings, she is passionate about demonstrating applicable and meaningful ways that student affairs practitioners can use assessment and research in their work in order to improve student learning and operations.  She also loves presenting division- and institution-level assessment/research findings in a fun and engaging manner to professionals (because assessment is fun!).  She received a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Yiyun Jie, Ph.D.,
Director

Yiyun Jie, Ph.D., has served as the Director of Assessment for the Division of Student Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University since 2016 and leads the Division’s effort to establish a culture of effective assessment for continuous improvement.  Yiyun provides leadership, coordination, and technical expertise for program evaluation, as well as learning and development outcome assessment.  Her scholarly work was published in internationalization in higher education, cross-border university partnerships, and students’ learning and development in postsecondary education.  Yiyun earned her Ph.D. in comparative and international development education, with a minor in program evaluation from the University of Minnesota.  She also received a Master’s degree in College Student Services and Administration from Oregon State University.
